Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has once again reinforced its standing among leading institutions in the region, maintaining its position in a prominent global ranking.
According to the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026, released on 23 April 2026, UniKL is placed in the 601–800 band and is among 34 Malaysian universities listed in the rankings.
UniKL appears alongside three other private higher education institutions (IPTS) within the Government-Linked Universities (GLU) network: Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UniTEN), and Multimedia University (MMU).
Malaysia has entered the top 40 for the first time and doubled its representation in the top 100, with UTP emerging as the highest-ranked Malaysian university.
The THE Asia University Rankings 2026 feature a total of 1,405 universities from 41 countries, making it one of the most comprehensive and diverse regional university assessments to date.
All participating universities, including UniKL, were evaluated based on 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators, offering a balanced comparison widely trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry players, and policymakers.
Building on this achievement, UniKL will continue strengthening its international reputation through expanded collaborations with leading universities and organisations, both locally and globally.
As one of Malaysia’s leading technical universities, UniKL is also intensifying efforts to increase international student enrolment.
