Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has fielded 20 students as part of the Majlis Sukan IPTS Malaysia (MASISWA) contingent for the Sukan Institusi Pengajian Malaysia (SIPMA) 2025, held from 1 to 7 September.

The MASISWA contingent’s flag-off ceremony was hosted at UniKL Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology (UniKL MITEC) and led by the President of MASISWA, who is also UniKL’s Deputy President (Student Development & Campus Lifestyle), YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long.

“Sports not only build character and discipline but also elevate the image of IPTS athletes at both national and international levels.

“I am confident our athletes will continue to make MASISWA and Malaysia proud,” she said during the ceremony at UniKL MITEC, which also hosted a three-day Perkampungan Sukan for all participating contingents.

Hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, SIPMA 2025 brings together eight sports councils: Majlis Sukan IPTS Malaysia (MASISWA), Majlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia (MASUM), Majlis Sukan Politeknik Malaysia (MSP), Majlis Sukan Kolej Komuniti (MASKOM), Majlis Sukan Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia (MSIPGM), Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM), Majlis Sukan Kolej Vokasional Malaysia (MASKOV), and Majlis Sukan Matrikulasi Malaysia (MSMM).

The competition features more than 1,760 athletes and 400 officials across multiple sporting disciplines.

This year, MASISWA has flagged off 199 athletes and 59 officials. At SIPMA 2023, MASISWA finished third overall with 77 medals.

For SIPMA 2025, the contingent is aiming higher, targeting 88 medals, including 15 golds in swimming, 5 in bowling, 3 each in badminton and athletics, and podium finishes in football, volleyball, and other sports.

The games feature swimming, badminton, football, tenpin bowling, athletics, hockey, netball, sepak takraw, archery, and volleyball, with 121 gold medals up for grabs.

SIPMA 2025 was officially launched on 3 September 2025 by the Minister of Higher Education, Senator Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir.
