Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) strengthened its presence in university-level sports after securing one silver and one bronze medal at the Varsity Archery Championship (VAC) Series 1 2026.
Held at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Sintok, from 22 to 26 July 2026, the championship brought together university archers competing across recurve and compound categories.
UniKL’s strongest result came in the Recurve Mixed Team event, where Nur Safiyyah Zaini of UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) partnered with Hilman Aisar Aziz of UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET).
The duo displayed composure, accuracy and teamwork throughout the competition to claim the silver medal for UniKL.
Nur Safiyyah added another medal to UniKL’s campaign through the Recurve Women’s Team event. She joined Amirah Farzana Edy Haffiz and Nur Izwany Izzaty Md Sazali, both from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET), to secure the bronze medal.

The official championship results confirmed UniKL’s podium finishes in both events.
The results reinforce UniKL’s profile as a Malaysian technical university that promotes holistic education, student development and sporting excellence.
UniKL’s archery contingent will now turn its attention to two major upcoming competitions: the Sukan Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi (SUKIPT) 2026, scheduled from 28 August to 6 September, and the Varsity Archery Championship Grand Final from 23 to 27 September 2026.
The athletes are expected to represent UniKL in both recurve and compound events as they seek to build on their VAC 2026 podium finishes and bring further recognition to the university.
The achievement supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being; SDG 4: Quality Education, as well as SDG 5: Gender Equality.
