Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has been crowned the overall champion in the Major Leagues at the RoboCup Malaysia Open 2025, marking a historic first for the institution in this prestigious competition.
The victory was achieved through the efforts of 10 talented students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI), who demonstrated excellence, determination, and innovation in every category they contested.
UniKL’s achievement was underscored by its outstanding performance in multiple competitions throughout the event.
The team emerged as champions in the Industrial Logistics Hackathon, a challenging category that tested participants’ ability to solve real-world problems in automation and logistics.
In addition to the main win, UniKL’s team was also recognised for its collaboration and synergy, receiving the Best Teamwork Award in the same category.
The students further impressed judges and audiences by claiming first place in the Rescue League Hackathon, a category designed to simulate search-and-rescue operations through robotic solutions.
Their consistent performance continued in the ICode Python Challenge (Advanced), where they earned second place among strong competitors.
The RoboCup Malaysia Open 2025, held from 14 to 18 August at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), drew a total of 250 participants from Malaysia, China, Iran, and Thailand.
The competition served as a platform to highlight advancements in robotics and AI across various fields, from logistics and rescue operations to coding and intelligent systems.
The event concluded with UniKL receiving another honour, as the university was officially announced as the host of RoboCup Malaysia Open 2026.
The symbolic handing-over ceremony was received by Prof. Ir. Dr. Azmi Hassan, UniKL’s Deputy President (International, Industrial & Institutional Partnership – IIIP).
