More than 900 Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET) students and guests explored career pathways, internship opportunities and emerging industry trends during the Career, Employability and Internship Fair (CEIF) 2026.
Held at Dewan Khatulistiwa, UniKL MIMET in Lumut on 10 June 2026, the fair was organised by the International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership (IIIP) Department in collaboration with Student Development and Campus Lifestyle (SDCL).

CEIF 2026 was officiated by Centre for Industrial Linkages (CIL) Director, Associate Professor Dr Redzuan Zoolfakar. The event brought together students, alumni, industry representatives and government agencies to exchange insights on employment opportunities, professional skills and current workforce expectations.
In his welcoming remarks, UniKL MIMET Dean, Ts. Dr Zaimi Zainal Mukhtar encouraged students to engage actively with exhibitors, seek information and establish professional networks.
He also called on industry partners to continue working with the university to develop programmes, provide curriculum input, and deliver training that reflects workplace needs.
Participating organisations included ASEAN Cableship Pte Ltd, Samudera Shipyard, SHM Shipcare, ANB Services, the Association of Marine Industries of Malaysia (AMIM), the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP), MYFutureJobs and Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM).

The organisations introduced students to opportunities in submarine cable operations, shipbuilding and ship repair, marine technical services, occupational safety and health, financial planning, employment services and skills training.
These areas are closely aligned with UniKL MIMET’s academic programmes and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) focus.
Several focused sessions were also conducted throughout the fair. The “Training and Skills Opportunities” session by ABM and NIOSH highlighted professional certification, upskilling pathways and the importance of workplace safety.

MYFutureJobs’ “Career Launchpad” session provided insights into labour market trends and effective job-search strategies, while KWSP’s “Future Finance” session strengthened students’ understanding of financial literacy and retirement planning.
The event concluded with an industrial talk and interview session by ASEAN Cableship, giving selected students first-hand exposure to recruitment processes, employer expectations, and career opportunities in the maritime industry.

CEIF 2026 supports UniKL’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
