Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shahrafidz Khalid, an academician at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT), has been honoured with the Honorary Circle Award by the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB).
The recognition was awarded in appreciation of his active participation and technical excellence, which have significantly contributed to the success of MTSFB over the past year.
“I am deeply humbled by this acknowledgement in a field that is constantly evolving. This award serves as an encouragement to continue contributing to the industry.
“The recognition also belongs to my colleagues and working-group members who challenged, refined, and tested every idea alongside me,” he said.
The award was presented during the MTSFB Appreciation Dinner and Award Night 2025, held on 12 August 2025.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shahrafidz currently serves as a member of the Security, Trust & Privacy Working Group, while also chairing the Subworking Group on IMT-2020, IoT, and ITS Security.
He was also the Draft Lead for the IoT Device Security Requirements and a key member of the drafting committee for three Technical Codes (TCs), which provide essential guidelines to ensure IoT devices are secure—safeguarding both users and industries from potential threats.
In addition, he plays a vital role in the Smart Manufacturing Task Force, where he contributes to the development of the Communications, Security, and Governance Framework for Smart Manufacturing.
“I hope to continue contributing to the development of standards that support Malaysia’s digital growth. As technology evolves, so will our efforts to ensure security, interoperability, and innovation in the industry,” he added.
