A beach-cleaning initiative in Kuantan became more than a community service activity when Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) brought alumni and students together through Chill & Chat Pantai Timur 2026, creating a platform for networking, knowledge-sharing and social impact.
Held on 22 August 2026 at Pantai Anak Air, Kuantan, Pahang, the programme was organised by UniKL’s Centre for Alumni & Career Services (CACS) together with the UniKL Residential College Committee of UniKL Business School (UniKL BIS).
The programme gathered 40 UniKL Business School students and 10 UniKL alumni, combining informal alumni engagement with a corporate social responsibility (CSR) beach-cleaning initiative.
Participants worked alongside JKK Kampung Pantai Anak Air, Majlis Bandaraya Kuantan (MBK) and Alam Flora to clean approximately 300 metres of coastline while learning about responsible waste management, waste segregation and recycling.

More than 30 kilogrammes of waste was collected during the activity.
The initiative also highlighted the challenges surrounding coastal waste management, as participants learned that a significant portion of the waste collected could not be recycled, reinforcing the importance of responsible disposal and greater environmental awareness.
The activity carried added significance as UniKL became the first organisation to conduct a beach-cleaning CSR initiative along the 300-metre stretch of Pantai Anak Air covered during the programme.
As part of the programme’s Jom Terjah Alumni segment, CACS also reconnected with UniKL graduates who have translated their university experiences into entrepreneurial ventures.

Engku Fathul Shah Nor Haqim E Shahrunizad, a UniKL Business School alumnus and Business Management graduate, has successfully built his entrepreneurial journey through Coastal Crescendo, a café that combines business, creativity and customer experience.
His journey demonstrates how knowledge developed through business education can be applied beyond the classroom, from building a brand and managing day-to-day operations to creating a business that connects with its surrounding community.
Meanwhile, Wan Noor Azni Wan A.R. Azizan, a UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) alumna, has taken a different path from her academic background in Biochemical Engineering.

She now owns and manages several preschools while expanding into the hospitality and tourism sector through Adeeba’s Guesthouse & Campsite.
Her experience reflects the adaptability of UniKL graduates and how technical education, transferable skills, confidence and entrepreneurial thinking can create opportunities beyond an alumnus’ original field of study.
Chill & Chat Pantai Timur 2026 supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
