Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) continues to strengthen its internationalisation agenda by enhancing academic cooperation between Malaysia and the Maldives, following a recent working visit by representatives from the Maldives Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen collaboration in higher education, skills development, and talent mobility, particularly in specialised and industry-driven fields offered by UniKL.
These efforts are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The Maldivian delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Aminath Sashe.

She was accompanied by a senior director from the ministry as well as eight high school principals from the Maldives.
As part of the programme, the delegation visited two UniKL campuses which are UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) and UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT).
The visits provided the delegation with first-hand exposure to UniKL’s academic environment, teaching facilities, laboratories, and industry-aligned programmes, particularly in the fields of medicine, aviation, and applied technology.
The engagement session was led by UniKL President and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, who welcomed the delegation and shared UniKL’s vision in developing highly skilled graduates through practice-oriented education and strong industry collaboration.

He also highlighted UniKL’s commitment to fostering meaningful international partnerships, in line with the SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals that contribute to human capital development at both national and regional levels.
Currently, UniKL hosts 44 students from the Maldives across various academic programmes, which reflects the growing confidence in UniKL as a preferred destination for higher education among Maldivian students.
The working visit is expected to pave the way for deeper collaboration, including potential student mobility initiatives, academic progression pathways, and institutional partnerships that benefit both UniKL and educational institutions in the Maldives.
Note: In line with Malaysia’s aspiration to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) continues to strengthen and amplify its efforts across various initiatives.
