Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has allocated a total of RM328,527.00 for its zakat distribution in 2026, reinforcing its continued commitment to supporting the welfare of its community, particularly students in need.
Of this total, RM144,400 was specifically disbursed to 140 asnaf students at UniKL’s Selangor campuses during the Majlis Pengagihan Zakat Selangor dan Sumbangan Aidilfitri 2026, held at the UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) on 15 April 2026.
The student recipients comprised individuals from four UniKL campuses—UniKL MIAT, UniKL Malaysia France Institute (MFI), UniKL Malaysian Spanish Institute (MESTECH), and UniKL British Malaysian Institute (BMI)—under the asnaf categories of fakir, miskin, and muallaf.
Students in the fakir category received RM1,000 in living assistance along with RM150 as an Aidilfitri contribution, while miskin and muallaf recipients each received RM800 for living expenses and RM150 for the festive season. The assistance will be credited directly into the recipients’ accounts within April.
The zakat distribution was implemented through the UniKL Zakat Trust Fund (UniZ@UniKL), which has been serving as an authorised amil under the Lembaga Zakat Selangor since its establishment in 2016.

According to the Senior Director of Investment at Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Dr. Azmi Amat Murjan, in 2025, UniKL recorded a total zakat collection of RM1.399,355.90 million, with nearly RM670,000 distributed to 1,967 recipients within the university community.
The achievement also positioned UniKL eighth among 17 higher education institutions in Selangor in terms of counter collection performance.
“This means that many students have received support, and many have gone on to achieve success. I believe that among those present today, there will emerge outstanding graduates, professionals of integrity, and future leaders who will contribute back to society,” he said in his speech during the ceremony.
