Three talents from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) are representing Malaysia at the WorldSkills Competition 2026 in Shanghai, China, placing the university’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) expertise on one of the world’s most prominent skills platforms.
The competition, held from 22 to 27 September 2026, brings together highly skilled young professionals from around the world to demonstrate their technical abilities against international standards across a wide range of industry disciplines.
The three UniKL representatives are Muhammad Huzairy Mohamad Thes from UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) in Mechanical Engineering CAD, Mohammad Ezaly Iman Ramli, alumnus of UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) and Wan Hamiz Ozai Wan Hamidzi from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Industrial Design (UniKL MIDI) in Rail Vehicle Technology.
They are among nine participants from Institusi Pendidikan MARA (IPMA) selected to represent Malaysia at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
The wider Malaysian contingent comprises 22 participants competing across 21 skills areas, reflecting the country’s growing emphasis on developing highly competent technical talent capable of meeting evolving global industry demands.
For UniKL, participation at WorldSkills Shanghai goes beyond competing for medals. It provides an international benchmark for the practical competencies, technological knowledge and industry readiness developed through its technical and professional education ecosystem.
The achievement supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through high-quality technical and skills development; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by strengthening employability and workforce readiness; and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through competencies linked to engineering, digital technology and future industries.
