Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) proudly celebrates 6,602 students at its 21st Convocation Ceremony, held at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur. The event spans four days, from November 16 to 19, across eight sessions.
The ceremony commenced with a special conferment by the Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, YB Datuk Hajah Rubiah Haji Wang, recognising 652 graduates, including postgraduates and undergraduates.
A total of 27 outstanding students were celebrated during the first session, while 147 international students from 36 countries, including Pakistan, Mauritius, Indonesia, India, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Syria, and Yemen, are set to graduate during the four-day convocation.
“Currently, UniKL has 660 international graduates from 65 countries, demonstrating that the institution has earned the global community’s trust in pursuing education and is expected to attract more international students in the future.
“This is further evidenced by UniKL’s success in producing the highest number of graduates from its Doctor of Philosophy and Master’s programmes in the history of this convocation ceremony,” said YB Datuk Hajah Rubiah during the opening session.
UniKL’s reputation as a leading institution for postgraduate studies is further reinforced as prominent figures, YB Senator Datuk Seri Dr. Hajah Zurainah Musa, Member of the Dewan Negara, and YBhg. Ir. Dr. Mahzan Bin Teh, Deputy Director General (Education) of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), embarked on their PhD journey at the university.
The first session also marked a significant milestone as Mohamad Solehin Zulkarnain, the first graduate from UniKL Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH), was conferred the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for outstanding achievements.
Additionally, the Ulul Albab Special Award was presented to Muaz Md Akhir Al Hafiz, a Bachelor of Marine Engineering Technology graduate with Honours from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET).
