The Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) through its zakat arm, Tabung Amanah Zakat UniKL (UniZ@UniKL) has distributed zakat worth of RM404,700 for 2022.
Acting Deputy President (Academic & Technology) of UniKL, Prof. Madya Ir. Dr. Mohd Khairil Rahmat said, the amount includes the distribution of ‘Hari Raya Aidilfitri’ donations amounting to RM88,200.
“The zakat is additionally distributed as subsistence assistance (bantuan sara diri) for three months, distributed between April and June 2022.
“This distribution of zakat and ‘Hari Raya Aidilfitri’ donations is one of the additional incentives for UniKL students who are eligible,” said him during delivering his speech at ‘Majlis Agihan Zakat dan Sumbangan Aidilfitri Tabung Manah Zakat UniKL’, yesterday which was held at UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI).
Also present, Head of the Agency Management Department at Lembaga Zakat Selangor, Encik Mohd Hairulazalan Ramlan; Dean of UniKL BMI, Prof. Madya Dr. Kushsairy Abdul Kadir; Dean of UniKL MFI, Prof. Ts. Jamel Othman; Dean of UniKL MESTECH, Ts. Dr. Reezal Ishak; and Dean of UniKL MIAT, Dr. Mohd Hafizi Shamsudin.
UniKL BMI represents three other UniKL campuses in Selangor namely UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI), UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) and UniKL Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH) in the coordination management of zakat collection activities.
Afterwards, it will be channelled to the Lembaga Zakat Selangor and distributed through UniZ@UniKL.
This year, UniZ@UniKL has received a total of 368 zakat applications from UniKL BMI (81 students), UniKL MFI (128 students), UniKL MIAT (12 students), and UniKL MESTECH (21 students).
Last year, the total amount of various zakat distribution assistance that has been successfully channelled to all ‘asnaf’ at UniKL is worth RM563,071.
“We have received good cooperation and support from the management of the Lembaga Zakat Selangor, especially related to the training and management guidance of Certified Zakat Amil Assistants in the Higher Education Institution category,” he added.
