More than 300 Universiti Kuala Lumpur Business School (UniKL BiS) students gained first-hand insights into entrepreneurship, digital innovation and career development through the UniKL BiS Inspiration Talk Series held on 29 July 2026.

The programme reinforced UniKL BiS’ commitment to meaningful industry-academia collaboration by connecting students with experienced professionals who could translate business theories into practical lessons drawn from the workplace and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The session featured Mr Kah Yee, Chairman and Founder of UCrest Berhad, alongside Puan Rafidah Aris, Lecturer in Tourism Planning and Development at UniKL Business School.

Their presentations exposed students to entrepreneurial innovation, leadership, career readiness and the changing expectations of industries shaped by artificial intelligence, digital transformation and data-driven technologies.

Delivering a keynote address titled “From Idea to Impact: Building Startups Across Asia”, Mr Kah Yee shared lessons from more than four decades in the global technology industry.

Drawing from his experience in Silicon Valley, Synopsys Asia Pacific, Key ASIC Berhad and UCrest Berhad, he explained how entrepreneurs can transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses capable of creating regional and global impact.

Mr Kah Yee outlined an entrepreneurial journey built around five key stages: Idea, Build, Fund, Scale and Impact.

He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to begin by identifying real-world problems rather than developing products without a clear purpose. Ideas, he said, must be tested and validated before entrepreneurs invest significant resources in building their businesses.

The next stages require founders to assemble capable teams, earn the confidence of investors, expand into new markets and remain focused on the long-term value their businesses can create for society.

His sharing highlighted that innovation alone does not guarantee entrepreneurial success. Resilience, perseverance, adaptability and continuous learning are equally important when navigating market uncertainty, technological disruption and the challenges of scaling a business.

Citing digital platforms such as UCrest Berhad’s iMedic healthcare solution and influencer marketing platform Partipost, Mr Kah Yee demonstrated how artificial intelligence, e-commerce, digital platforms and data analytics are transforming industries across the Asia-Pacific region.

These examples helped students understand how technology can be applied to address healthcare access, consumer engagement and business growth while generating both economic and social value.

He encouraged students to look beyond conventional employment pathways and consider how emerging technologies could be used to develop new products, services and entrepreneurial ventures.

The session also strengthened students’ understanding of the skills required in an increasingly AI-driven economy, including problem-solving, creativity, digital literacy, teamwork and the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving industry needs.

Complementing the keynote session, Puan Rafidah shared perspectives on career readiness and professional excellence based on her 19 years of experience in strategic marketing, communications, tourism, hospitality and event management.

The UniKL BiS Inspiration Talk Series reflects UniKL’s wider commitment to industry-engaged education, entrepreneurship development and graduate employability.

The programme supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by expanding access to relevant, industry-informed learning experiences.

It also advances SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through entrepreneurship and career preparation, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by promoting technology-driven innovation, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
