Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) reaffirmed its position as a leading institution in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) when it played a central role at the Program Jelajah TVET MARA Negeri Sabah 2025, held at Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kampus Tawau.
The programme, officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, attracted nearly 1,000 youths from Kalabakan and Tawau who were eager to explore future pathways in technical and skills-based education.
In his officiating speech, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid urged youths to fully utilise the education and skills training programmes offered by the government through MARA and its related agencies.
He emphasised that TVET has become a core driver of national development, playing a vital role in producing the skilled workforce required to meet the needs of various industries.

The event gathered several distinguished representatives, including MARA Chairman YBhg. Datuk Wira Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Datoโ Dusuki; Member of the MARA Council YB Senator Datuk Rosni Sohar; Chairman of MARA Excellent Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (MEX) Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Kadir; MARA Corp Chief Executive Officer Yahaya Sani; Yayasan Pelajaran MARA Chief Executive Officer Faisalludin Mohamat Yusuff; and IPG Kampus Tawau Director Dr. Najamuddin Hj. Bachora.
Organised to enhance TVET awareness and participation among Sabah youths, the programme featured exhibitions, talks, and interactive engagement sessions with various MARA agencies.

A total of 803 students from six secondary schools across Sabah participated, making it one of the regionโs most impactful TVET outreach efforts.
UniKLโs participation was led by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, who delivered a keynote session highlighting the universityโs significant contributions to Malaysiaโs national TVET ecosystem.
โUniKL has built a strong foundation through industry-driven academic programmes that respond directly to real market needs.
โWe want Sabahโs youth to know that there are many opportunities for them to pursue higher education in technical fields, and UniKL is fully committed to guiding them on that path,โ he said during the programme, which took place on 26 November 2025.
UniKL has consistently recorded an increase in enrolment from Sabah, with more than 200 students from the state joining the university for the 2025 academic intake.
