Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) continued its commitment to community empowerment through technology with the implementation of the third series of the Tech4Ummah Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme at Maahad An-Noer, Janda Baik, recently.

The Dean and Head of Campus of UniKL MIIT, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nizam Husen, said the programme, initiated in 2023, integrates knowledge sharing with corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at narrowing the digital divide and enhancing technological accessibility among targeted communities.

He added that the initiative also strengthens UniKL’s engagement with the community, in line with the university’s aspiration to promote inclusive and people-centric technology.

“Unlike the previous two series conducted with communities in the Gombak and Pekan parliamentary constituencies, this edition marks a new approach through collaboration with a religious institution. A total of 120 UniKL MIIT participants, comprising academic staff and administrative personnel, were involved in this programme,” he said.

Also present at the programme were the Mudir of Maahad An-Noer, Hafiz Mohd Suid, and the Project Manager, Muhammad Ezra Muhammad Ismail.

The programme, themed ‘Community Empowerment Through Technology and Human Values’, featured knowledge-sharing sessions on technology, ethics, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital creativity.

Key activities included sessions on AI and a Borderless World, AI Applications for Huffaz (CapCut demonstration), From Kalam to Canva: Creative Da’wah with AI, as well as community gotong-royong activities.

The community service segment focused on cleaning the maahad compound and preparing lunch together with students and members of Maahad An-Noer, fostering closer interaction between UniKL MIIT and the local community.

Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nizam noted that the Tech4Ummah CSR Programme will continue as an annual initiative, with plans to diversify its outreach and target groups in future editions.

“Future programmes may focus on other communities, including orphans and the Orang Asli. Most importantly, we aim to share the latest technological advancements for the benefit of society,” he said.
