Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) strengthened its industry and school engagement through its involvement in the International Bijak STEM Award Ceremony 2026.
The programme aimed to create meaningful opportunities for students to gain real-world experience while supporting digital STEM education and school outreach.
Held on 26 July 2026 at Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI), Gombak, the programme saw 11 UniKL MIIT committee members, comprising nine student volunteers and two staff volunteers, supporting the education-focused event organised in partnership with Aerocentric Events.

The initiative was led by Ts. Dr. Nur Syahela Hussien, Senior Lecturer from UniKL MIIT’s Creative Multimedia Technology Section, and reviewed by the Head of Section, Mastika Mustafa.
The engagement followed an earlier meeting between UniKL MIIT and Aerocentric Events on 6 July 2026, during which both parties explored opportunities related to digital STEM, game-based learning, educational technology, school outreach and student development.

Aerocentric Events also shared its experience in organising education-focused programmes and digital competitions involving school students, providing a foundation for potential future initiatives involving interactive technologies and creative multimedia.
“This collaboration provides our students with valuable real-world exposure while strengthening UniKL MIIT’s engagement with industry and the school community. We hope it will lead to further opportunities in digital STEM, educational technology and industry-based student projects,” said Ts. Dr. Nur Syahela.

Beyond the event, the engagement opened pathways for UniKL MIIT and Aerocentric Events to explore future opportunities in internships, student projects, multimedia content development, Unity-based applications, Roblox, interactive games and educational technology.
Such initiatives can further strengthen UniKL MIIT’s role in connecting higher education, industry and schools while introducing younger learners to emerging digital technologies and technology-driven learning experiences.

The initiative contributes primarily to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by expanding access to STEM learning and supporting skills development.
It also aligns with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through its focus on digital and educational technologies, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through engagement between the university, industry and school communities.
