A new smart parking system developed by six students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology (UniKL MITEC) has earned top honours at IGNITE’25: The Innovation Day 2025.
Created as part of their Innovation Management coursework, the Semester 2 students designed the system to address parking challenges in high-density areas such as UniKL MITEC itself.
The team—comprising Wan Syafia Humaira Wan Ahmad Fadzlie, Nor Afifah Rabiah Ahmad Salahudin, Nur Aqilah Ismail, Nur Syazreen Adriana Mohd Syahir, Siti Nur Aina Razali, and Nik Husna Syafina Nik Zainal Abidin—integrated real-time data monitoring, mobile networking, sensor technology, and automation to deliver a seamless and user-friendly parking experience.
Their innovation aims to reduce traffic congestion, save time, and promote sustainability, making it a viable smart solution for educational institutions and other urban settings.

IGNITE’25, themed “Fuelling INNOVATION, FUNDING the Future,” provided a dynamic platform for Innovation Management students to present their projects while connecting with representatives from the government and private sectors.
Organised by students from the Financial Management and Project Management subjects, the event featured exhibitions, keynote addresses, innovation challenges, and networking sessions.
By bridging academia and industry, IGNITE’25 not only encouraged creativity and practical learning but also gave students valuable opportunities to pitch their ideas and engage with professionals.
