Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) conducted a benchmarking visit to Politeknik Tun Syed Nasir (PTSN) in Pagoh, Johor, on 18 September 2026 to strengthen academic collaboration and expand higher education pathways for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates.
Led by the Process Engineering Technology Section, the engagement focused on credit transfer mapping, curriculum alignment and student engagement to explore opportunities for smoother academic progression from diploma to degree-level studies.
The visit also gave UniKL MICET a platform to introduce its newly offered Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology with Honours (BCET) programme, designed to develop industry-ready chemical engineering technologists.

The programme offers three specialised pathways — Process, Polymer and Environment — equipping students with technical knowledge and competencies aligned with the evolving needs of the chemical engineering industry.
Beyond curriculum discussions, the benchmarking visit facilitated knowledge exchange between both institutions, exploring opportunities to strengthen academic collaboration and create more accessible educational pathways for TVET graduates.
The initiative reflects UniKL’s commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s TVET ecosystem through academic partnerships, applied higher education and the development of a skilled, future-ready workforce.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the engagement supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through higher education pathways, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through skills development and graduate employability, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through inter-institutional collaboration.
Through such initiatives, UniKL MICET continues to reinforce its role in advancing TVET education, strengthening academic partnerships and developing industry-ready chemical engineering technologists to support Malaysia’s industrial growth.
