The Eco Guardian Initiative Programme (eGIP) 2026 has been officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for achieving the “Most Trees Assessed in a Forest Health Monitoring Programme,” with significant contributions from student volunteers of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).
Particularly, the Kelab Kembara Kita (KKK) from UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP), was among the key participants in the large-scale national environmental effort at Royal Belum-Temenggor.
Held from 10 to 12 May 2026 at UMK Tropical Rainforest Research Centre (UMK TRaCe), the programme gathered around 250 student volunteers from public universities and private higher education institutions nationwide to conduct structured forest health assessments aimed at strengthening conservation data and environmental protection initiatives.

Representing UniKL RCMP, a total of six KKK members from diverse academic backgrounds, including Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy, and Diploma in Physiotherapy, actively participated in the fieldwork conducted within the Royal Belum-Temengor Forest, one of Malaysia’s key ecological reserves.

Organised by the Student Affairs Division (BHEP), Department of Higher Education Malaysia (JPT), in collaboration with the Majlis Sukarelawan Universiti Awam Malaysia (MASKUM), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Yayasan Perkasa Siswa (YPS), Pulau Banding Foundation (PBF), and strategic partners, the programme reflects a coordinated national effort to advance environmental stewardship through youth participation.

Beyond achieving an MBOR milestone, eGIP 2026 served as an immersive platform to cultivate environmental awareness, hands-on conservation experience, and sustainable practices among students.
The initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing long-term ecosystem preservation efforts for future generations.
The recognition marks a significant national achievement, highlighting both the scale of collaboration and the meaningful contribution of UniKL RCMP students in supporting a record-setting environmental monitoring initiative.
