The UniKL Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology (MITEC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), successfully concluded the International Lean Healthcare Conference 2023, held at The Everly Putrajaya.
The conference, which took place from 15 to 16 August, brought together healthcare practitioners, experts, and enthusiasts to delve into the application of Lean principles in healthcare settings.
The event was officially inaugurated on 15 August 2023 by the Deputy Minister of Health, YB Tuan Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
The occasion was marked by a special ceremony where UniKL MITEC and the Ministry of Health commemorated their decade-long collaboration with the exchange of a memento.
With the overarching theme of “Inspiring Lean Thinking, Enhancing Value to Patients,” the International Lean Healthcare Conference 2023 aimed to provide a platform for 450 national and international Lean and healthcare practitioners to gather, share insights, and learn from one another.
The focus of the conference was to deepen participants’ understanding of Lean implementation in healthcare contexts. This was achieved through a series of engaging activities, including plenary sessions, symposiums, forums, and parallel sessions.
Since its inception in 2013, the Lean journey within the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia has steadily gained momentum. This journey was initiated with the collaboration of the Prime Minister’s Office under the Public Service Delivery Transformation (PSDT) Program, the Medical Development Division, the Institute For Health Management, and UniKL MITEC.
Over the years, these stakeholders have collectively driven the integration of Lean methodologies into Malaysia’s government hospitals, making substantial contributions to the nation’s healthcare landscape.
UniKL MITEC, in particular, has played a pivotal role in championing the adoption of Lean methodology across government healthcare facilities.
The institution’s efforts have not only shaped the way healthcare processes are approached but have also contributed to raising the overall quality of patient care in the country.
