Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Kuala Lumpur have agreed to explore collaboration in upskilling and reskilling programmes for working professionals.
This follows the formalisation of an inaugural strategic partnership through a collaboration agreement signed on 14 May 2026 at the UniKL City Campus.
UniKL President and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, said the collaboration aims to strengthen training excellence and capacity building within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem.
“Today’s agreement marks the beginning of a purposeful and forward-looking partnership between UniKL and UUM Kuala Lumpur,” he said during the signing ceremony.

UniKL was represented by Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman, while UUM Kuala Lumpur was represented by its Provost, Prof. Dr. Norlena Hasnan.
The ceremony was witnessed by UniKL Deputy President (International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership), Prof. Ir. Dr. Azmi Hassan, and UUM Kuala Lumpur Director of TVET Management, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Shanusi Ahmad.
Also present were the Director of Centre for Advancement and Continuing Education (ACE) at UniKL, Assoc. Prof. ChM. Ts. Dr. Yuhanees Mohamed Yusof; Dean of UniKL Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH), Ts. Dr. Mohamed Zul Fadhli Khairuddin; and Dean of UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET), Dr. Noor Aina Mohd Nazri.

Spearheaded by ACE UniKL, the collaboration will focus on training and professional development programmes in the oil and gas sector, drawing on expertise from UniKL MESTECH and UniKL MICET.
UUM Kuala Lumpur Provost, Prof. Dr. Norlena Hasnan, welcomed the partnership, noting that it complements UUM’s strengths in technical disciplines while opening opportunities for collaboration across academic areas.
She added that the collaboration could also be expanded into other fields, including education, sustainability, and environmental studies, among others.
“UUM Kuala Lumpur welcomes this opportunity and looks forward to blending strengths for a meaningful collaboration that benefits both institutions,” she said.
