The employability rate of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates has reached 98.7%, surpassing the national average, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He highlighted the growth of the sector, saying that before 2023, the estimated annual intake of students into TVET institutions was around 150,000 per year.
“Since the MTVET Secretariat was placed under the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, enrolment has increased to an average of 200,000 students per year, bringing the total number of TVET students to 580,000.
“Under this supervision, we have also seen employability rise to 98.7%. The remaining graduates either pursue further studies or start their own entrepreneurial ventures,” said him, who spoke during the ‘sesi penggulungan titah ucapan YDPA 2026’ in Parliament.
Focusing on UniKL alone, the employability rate stands at 97.4%, contributing to the overall strong performance of TVET graduates in Malaysia.
The 281 institutions under KKDW now offer 580 practical skill-based courses with enrolment exceeding 80,000 students, producing 24,000 graduates as of 31 December 2025.
These programs are aligned with local economic needs, including agro-industry, construction, services, technical maintenance, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (SME).
“The continuous growth of TVET enrolment and the high employability rate reflect our commitment to equipping young Malaysians with the skills needed to meet industry demands and strengthen the nation’s economy,” he added during his speech.
