Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has formalised joint-programme collaborations with Monash University and RMIT University as part of its continued internationalisation agenda.
The collaboration was commemorated through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a series of internationalisation working visits to leading universities in Australia and New Zealand.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Datuk Wira Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dato’ Dusuki.
This mission marks the beginning of a structured roadmap to strengthen UniKL’s Global Degree Programmes (GDP) and expand its research footprint across both countries.
The initiative will introduce 2+2 and 1+2 twinning pathways, providing students with enhanced mobility and dual-degree opportunities.
The collaboration focuses on five core areas of excellence which are Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with Honours, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours, Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours, Bachelor of Industrial Logistics, and Bachelor of Accounting.
Beyond academic programmes, UniKL is establishing research collaborations in sectors critical to global development, including Chemicals and Energy, Aviation, and Agrotechnology and Food Safety.
At the same time, UniKL is strengthening its credit transfer frameworks to incorporate emerging technology sectors with expanded modules in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Renewable Energy, and Agrotechnology, ensuring that graduates remain globally competitive and industry-ready.
To further enhance international exposure and professional competitiveness, UniKL and its partners will implement mobility programmes that provide exchange opportunities for academic staff, researchers, and students, enabling greater engagement in international teaching and research environments.
The collaboration will also prioritise joint research initiatives and scholarly publications in premier international journals.
Also present during the working visit were the Director-General of MARA, Dato’ Zulfikri Osman, and the President and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin.
For the record, the visit builds upon the strong Malaysia–New Zealand partnership in higher education, particularly following last year’s official visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, which emphasised education cooperation and student mobility.
During that visit, he witnessed a Letter of Intent (LoI) exchange between UniKL and the University of Canterbury, advancing collaboration in chemical and process engineering, halal food technology, and sustainable development.
