Some of the world’s leading electrical and electronics (E&E) companies, including Intel, Micron, VAT Manufacturing, Schott Glass, Silterra and UST Global, gathered at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) on 20 May 2026 to help shape the future of engineering education and talent development in Malaysia.
The engagement, held through the Industrial Round Table Discussion 2.0 (iRTD 2.0), marked a significant milestone in UniKL MSI’s aspiration to establish a premier Electrical and Electronics (E&E) campus that is closely aligned with industry needs and emerging technological trends.

Bringing together representatives from multinational corporations, industry experts and academic leaders, the platform served as a strategic avenue for reviewing existing academic programmes and identifying opportunities to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.
Among the organisations represented were Intel Product (M) Sdn Bhd, Micron Technology (M) Sdn Bhd, VAT Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd, Aumovio Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Schott Glass Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd, UST Global Sdn Bhd, Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd, AMETEK Engineered Materials Sdn Bhd, HASS Consulting Engineers and other strategic industry partners.

The participation of globally recognised technology and semiconductor companies reflects the growing confidence of industry leaders in UniKL MSI’s vision to become a key talent development hub supporting Malaysia’s expanding E&E and semiconductor ecosystem.
Throughout the discussion, industry partners provided valuable recommendations on curriculum enhancement, workforce readiness, industrial training and future skills requirements.
The session also explored opportunities for collaborative research, consultancy services and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening graduate employability and industry relevance.
The initiative comes at a crucial time as Malaysia continues to strengthen its position as a regional hub for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced technology industries, increasing the demand for highly skilled engineering and technical talent.
While industry leaders discussed future workforce needs, more than 100 final-year Engineering and Business Technology students participated in a parallel forum titled “Unstoppable: Cultivating the Mindset of Top-Tier Candidate.”
The session featured industry professionals Mr Hasrul Kushairi Hasni from UST Global and Ir. Razman Ghazali from HASS Consulting Engineers, who shared practical insights on preparing for industrial training and transitioning into professional careers.
Students were exposed to key industry expectations through discussions on marketability, workplace readiness and resilience.
Supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), iRTD 2.0 further strengthened collaboration between academia and industry in creating meaningful educational outcomes and sustainable talent development pathways.
