Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) brought its community together for an energetic morning of fitness, camaraderie and healthy living through the UniKL Fun Run 2026, held on 16 August 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.
Carrying the theme “Run Together, Grow Stronger,” the 5km recreational run attracted 137 participants, bringing UniKL staff together beyond the workplace to strengthen relationships while encouraging a more active and balanced lifestyle.
The programme began at Ideas Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, with participants setting off as early as 6.00 am.

The event combined physical activity with an engaging community atmosphere, reflecting UniKL’s commitment to staff wellbeing, workplace wellness and community engagement.
Among those present were Vice-Chancellor of UniKL, Prof. Dr. Kushsairy Abdul Kadir; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise), Prof. Ir. Dr. Azmi Hassan; Chief Financial Officer, Encik Muhammad Hafidzi Abu Bakar; Chief Operating Officer, Puan Mariam Yahaya; covering for Chief Commercial Officer, Mohd Ariff Majmi Zaaba; and Deputy General Manager of Group Human Capital, Puan Arafiah Aman.

More than simply completing the 5km route, the UniKL Fun Run provided an opportunity for colleagues from across the university to connect in an informal setting.
The programme also supports UniKL’s wider emphasis on creating a healthy, inclusive and supportive university environment, complementing its approach to employee wellbeing and sustainable institutional development.

By integrating recreational fitness into university community engagement, the initiative contributes particularly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, which promotes healthy lives and well-being for people of all ages.
It also complements SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the promotion of employee well-being and a positive workplace environment, as well as SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging stronger connections and collective participation across the university community.
