As part of the 7th Malaysia-Netherlands Water Dialogue 2024, Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s (UniKL) Centre for Water Engineering Technology (CWET) hosted a mini-symposium under the theme “Resiliency in Water and Wastewater Towards Zero Discharge”.
Organised in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysian Water Academy (MyWA) on November 20, the event brought together a distinguished lineup of speakers and panellists from prominent organisations, including the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), UN-Habitat, and the KWR Water Research Institute Netherlands.
Their insights highlighted the transformative impact of the zero discharge policy in strengthening water security and resilience.
The symposium attracted key players from industries such as Petronas, Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), academia, and consultancy firms, fostering vibrant knowledge exchange.
Discussions emphasised cutting-edge technologies and best practices in water recycling, wastewater management, and resource recovery techniques, offering actionable strategies to advance zero discharge goals.
Students and young professionals gained invaluable exposure to real-world applications of sustainable water practices, interacting with experts to explore the complexities and potential of zero discharge systems in shaping Malaysia’s water future.
