Najib Lian Nampat, a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours student from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI), was recognised with the special ‘Pemidato Harapan’ award at the Pertandingan Pidato Antarabangsa Education Malaysia Jordan (PAEMJ) 2025.
He earned the recognition through a recorded speech video submission, competing against students from universities in Jordan, as well as an international participant from China.
The competition attracted entries from a diverse range of public and private higher education institutions.
Participating universities included Yarmouk University, Al-Bayt University, Zarqa University, Peking University, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, and Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, among others.
“This award is a reminder that ideas travel far when we deliver them with clarity and courage,” said Najib Lian.
Hailing from Sabah, Najib Lian’s achievement highlights UniKL’s emphasis on holistic student development, particularly in strengthening communication, confidence, and critical thinking skills beyond technical disciplines.
The accomplishment aligns with the aspirations of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by promoting inclusive, quality education and fostering international academic collaboration between Malaysia and Jordan.
