A total of two world records and one Asian record were shattered at the UniKL MIAT Cube Open 2026, turning the international speedcubing competition into a historic milestone for Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology UniKL MIAT.
Held on 10 May 2026, the World Cube Association (WCA)-sanctioned event drew elite speedcubers from Malaysia and abroad, competing across multiple categories, including 4×4, 5×5, 6×6, and 7×7 cube events under official competition standards set by the World Cube Association.

The highlight of the competition came when Lim Hung, an international participant, emerged as one of the standout performers after setting record-breaking results that contributed to two world records and one Asian record being broken during the event.

The achievement marks one of the most significant competitive milestones ever recorded in a university-hosted cubing competition in Malaysia, elevating UniKL MIAT’s profile within the global speedcubing community.
Organised in collaboration with the Malaysia Cube Sports Association, the UniKL MIAT Student Representative Committee (SRC), and WCA delegates, the event was led by a dedicated organising team headed by Sri Ganesh Krishna.
UniKL MIAT’s Dean, Dr Mohd Hafizi Shamsudin, described the milestone as a proud moment for the institution and expressed hope that the competition would continue annually.
