A total of 33 Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Engineering Technology (UniKL MICET) successfully organised a presentation skills workshop for 126 Form Five students at SMK Ghafar Baba, Melaka.
The community engagement initiative, held on 15 May, aimed at strengthening youth communication competencies.
The programme, conducted as part of the students’ assessment for the Professional English 1 subject, reflects UniKL MICET’s commitment to experiential learning while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The workshop began with an engaging ice-breaking session designed to build rapport and boost student confidence.
This was followed by an introduction to UniKL MICET, which provided participants with exposure to higher-education pathways in engineering and technical fields.

Students were then guided through a structured sharing session on effective presentation skills, focusing on key areas such as content organisation, clarity of delivery, non-verbal communication, and confidence in public speaking.
The workshop concluded with group presentations, allowing participants to demonstrate their newly acquired skills in a supportive environment.
Teachers from SMK Ghafar Baba expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its positive impact on students’ self-confidence and communication abilities.
