Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI) strengthened its community engagement and digital entrepreneurship outreach through the Digital Entrepreneurship and Social Media for the Community programme on 8 August 2026 at Balai Raya Kampung Bagan Lalang, Sungai Pelek, Selangor.
Organised through UniKL MIDI’s Industrial, International & Institutional Partnership (IIIP) sector, the programme extended the university’s knowledge and expertise beyond the campus by equipping the local community with practical digital skills for entrepreneurship and online business development.
The initiative was conducted under the Centre for Women Advancement & Leadership (CWAL) and Teknoputra™ UniKL, reflecting Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s commitment to community empowerment, lifelong learning and knowledge transfer.
A total of 21 local participants took part in the programme, gaining practical exposure to digital entrepreneurship, social media and content creation.
The session was led by Mohammad Shahrul Mahisan, a lecturer in Fashion Design & Marketing at UniKL MIDI.
Participants were introduced to digital tools and strategies that could help strengthen their online presence, promote products and services, and sustain small business activities.
The practical approach also provided participants with actionable ways to improve their business visibility and reach wider customer segments through digital platforms.
The programme received support from the Jawatankuasa Pembangunan dan Keselamatan Kampung (JPKK) Kampung Bagan Lalang, led by its Chairman, Samsul Idham Mustafa Kamal.
The programme contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through lifelong learning and knowledge sharing, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by strengthening entrepreneurship capabilities and local economic potential.
It further supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening cooperation between academia and community leadership to deliver meaningful social and economic impact.
