The UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) AeroCarnival returns as its annual flagship event, drawing an estimated 2,600 visitors comprising students, educators, industry players, and members of the public.
Held at the UniKL MIAT Sepang Campus beginning 15 May 2026, the two-day programme aims to promote aerospace awareness, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, and stronger industry–academia collaboration.
The ceremony was officiated by the Senior Director of Investment, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Dr. Azmi Amat Murjan.
“This year, we have brought together approximately 40 local and international industry partners, including our international partner from the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).
“I am confident that the continued commitment of MARA, UniKL, and our industry partners will further strengthen Malaysia’s position as a regional hub for aerospace education and the aerospace industry,” said YBhg. Dr. Azmi.
Also in attendance were Liaison Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur, Madam Sindu Rahayu; Director of Group Legal & Secretarial Services of MARA Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Puan Nazli Hani Saat; and President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Prof. Ir. Azman Senin.
A key highlight of the event was the exchange of Letters of Intent (LoI) between UniKL and industry partners.
Batik Air Malaysia, represented by its Director of the Engineering and Maintenance Division, Mr Lam Hon Kee, formalised its collaboration with UniKL MIAT in support of the CAAM Part-66 Category B2 programme.
The initiative includes the selection of 25 students for conditional employment opportunities upon graduation, alongside curriculum alignment to meet industry requirements.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Aerospace (M) Sdn Bhd also exchanged an LoI with UniKL MIAT, focusing on the development of aircraft maintenance engineers.
Represented by the Training Manager of Galaxy Aerospace Malaysia, Mr Mohd Yasser Yusof, the collaboration offers a two-year industry placement programme for 20 selected students, including monthly allowances, aircraft type rating training, and conditional job offers upon programme completion.
The AeroCarnival also marked the launch of the Future Leaders in Youth Talent Education (FLYTE) programme, with its action plan presented by Mr Mohd Fakhrul Zarir Mohd, Head of Training and Development, GE Aerospace Malaysia.
Positioned as a strategic platform under the “Teaching Factory” concept, AeroCarnival continues to bridge academic learning with real industry practice, while nurturing interest in aviation-related careers and supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become a competitive regional aerospace hub.
The event underscores several key objectives, including the promotion of STEM education, enhancing awareness of career opportunities in the aviation sector, and strengthening collaboration between academia, government agencies, and aerospace industry players.
Visitors are exposed to the wider aerospace ecosystem, including aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), aerospace manufacturing, and emerging aviation technologies.
The programme features industry exhibitions, aircraft displays, technical competitions, career opportunities, forums, and networking sessions with aviation experts.
