Juggling the demands of their rigorous medical and pharmaceutical studies with their passion for dancing, these students, known as the ‘Royal Tandak’, claimed the first runner-up position and were awarded the winning purse of RM2,000 at the highly anticipated event.
FESCO 2023, organised by Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) on July 22 2023, brought together dancers from across the nation to celebrate traditional art forms and showcase their talents on the grand stage.
The festival gained international recognition after being designated as one of the official international dance festivals by The Federation of International Dance Festival (FIDAF) in 2016.
The Royal Tandak’s mesmerising performance stood out in the IPTS category of Tarian Rampaian Pergaulan Melayu.
The group’s dedication and hard work were evident as they invested a month and two weeks in rigorous practice before the competition.
The Royal Tandak comprises students from various academic disciplines.
Most of them are pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), while others specialise in Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmaceutical Technology, Diploma in Nursing, Diploma in Pharmacy, and Diploma in Physiotherapy.
The students are Wan Nur Liyana Wan Mokhtar, Nursyazani Mohd Zanuri, Nurul Adriana Mohd Zamzuri, Nur Mirrah Nashihin Muhamad Aizam, Batrisyia Ridzuan, Muhammad Zafry Harith Zainudin, Aimran Mahdi Hairulzam, Muhammad Syahmi Zulhusni Mohamad Othman, Muhammad Shareef Nahoor Aziz and Ma’az Balkhi A Sahar.
