Fashion became more than a runway statement as Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI) brought emerging creative talent into the spotlight through the SHIFTED CODES Graduation Fashion Show 2026, held on 28 June 2026.
The annual showcase celebrated the creativity, innovation and technical excellence of students from the Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing (Hons) programme, positioning UniKL MIDI as an important contributor to Malaysia’s fashion design education and creative industry talent pipeline.

This year’s show featured 29 student designers, comprising 19 second-year students and 10 final-year students, who presented 117 original fashion designs.
Each collection reflected strong conceptual thinking, craftsmanship and distinctive creative direction.
More than a graduation showcase, SHIFTED CODES served as a professional platform for students to translate classroom learning into real-world fashion presentation, from design development and garment construction to styling, runway coordination and audience engagement.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, industry professionals, fashion practitioners, academic staff and members of the public, creating valuable exposure for students to connect with potential employers, collaborators and industry networks.
Through this platform, UniKL MIDI reinforced its role in producing industry-ready graduates equipped with creative thinking, technical competency, marketing awareness and entrepreneurial confidence.

Aligned with UniKL’s aspiration, “Where Knowledge Is Applied and Dreams Realised,” SHIFTED CODES reflects the university’s applied learning approach, where students are encouraged to transform ideas into tangible outcomes with relevance to industry needs.
By connecting academic training with professional practice, the programme contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly through skills-based learning and future-ready education. It also aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing young talents for careers in the fashion, design and creative economy sectors.

Beyond the runway, SHIFTED CODES gave students first-hand experience in professional fashion show production, teamwork, industry collaboration and brand presentation.
