Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has made its first appearance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, securing a position in the 601–800 global band with an overall score of 65.5 out of 100.

The achievement places UniKL among 1,603 institutions worldwide assessed in the overall ratings, marking another significant milestone in the university’s growing international recognition for sustainability and its contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UniKL is among 31 Malaysian universities included in the 2026 ratings. Of the Malaysian institutions listed, six universities, including UniKL, made their first appearance in the global sustainability assessment.

UniKL participated in nine of the 17 SDGs, reflecting the breadth of its sustainability initiatives across education, applied research, institutional practices, industry collaboration and community engagement.

UniKL recorded its strongest performance in SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, achieving a score of 80.7 and ranking as the 3rd highest-ranked private university in Malaysia.

The inaugural result reflected the university community’s collective commitment to translating sustainability objectives into meaningful action.

UniKL’s strong performance in SDG 17 is especially meaningful, as partnerships are central to the university’s role as Malaysia’s leading higher Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) university.

Previously known as the THE Impact Rankings, the Sustainability Impact Ratings assess universities based on their contributions to the United Nations SDGs.

UniKL’s debut in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings follows its first inclusion in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, where it was listed alongside nearly 2,000 institutions worldwide.

Through its industry-driven higher TVET ecosystem, UniKL remains committed to developing skilled and responsible graduates while supporting Malaysia’s sustainable development priorities and the wider United Nations 2030 Agenda.

As part of its broader global ranking performance, UniKL is also placed in the 1501+ global band in the THE World University Rankings 2026.

In the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026, UniKL is ranked 601–800 in Business and Economics, 1001+ in Computer Science and 1251+ in Engineering.
