Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) has reinforced its role in developing highly skilled healthcare professionals with the launch of the UniKL RCMP Centre of Excellence for Healthcare Simulation, a state-of-the-art clinical simulation facility and the first of its kind within an institution in the state of Perak Darul Ridzuan.

The launch reflects UniKL RCMP’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of healthcare education through a more realistic, safe and globally aligned experiential learning approach.

The centre was officially launched by MARA council member, Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, in conjunction with MARA’s 60th Anniversary celebration held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

Also, in attendance were UniKL President/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, along with senior management from MARA, UniKL and industry partners.

According to Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, the establishment of the simulation centre marks a strategic step towards strengthening clinical training, particularly in the field of nursing.

“This centre provides a learning environment that closely replicates real clinical situations without posing any risk to patients. This approach enables students to refine their practical skills, build confidence and enhance their ability to make critical decisions in real-world scenarios,” he said.

The centre is equipped with advanced simulation technologies, including the Gaumard NOELLE S574.100 and Gaumard Trauma HAL S3040.100, enabling training across a wide range of complex scenarios such as normal and high-risk deliveries, as well as trauma and emergencies.

The approach also supports interprofessional learning (Interprofessional Education – IPE), further strengthening teamwork skills among medical and nursing students.

The development of the centre was approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan, with a construction cost of RM 1.0128 million and completed over a period of 2 years, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening high-technology healthcare training infrastructure.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman added that the establishment of the centre also reflects the values of Trust, Quality and Professionalism in producing nurses who are not only technically competent, but also ethical and compassionate.

“This simulation centre serves not only as a learning platform, but also as a medium to enhance hands-on skills within a controlled environment that meets global curriculum standards,” he added.

As the only higher education institution in Malaysia bestowed with Royal status, UniKL RCMP remains committed to fully leveraging this facility to advance excellence in healthcare education and to produce graduates who are competitive at the international level.

The facility is also expected to catalyse strategic collaborations with healthcare institutions, industry players, and academic partners, both locally and internationally, in line with UniKL’s aspiration to emerge as a leader in technical education, research, and professional development.

This launch forms part of UniKL RCMP’s ongoing efforts to support MARA’s national agenda, while further strengthening its position as a leading healthcare-focused higher education institution in the region.

The launch also coincided with a forum entitled “Synergy Summit: Healthcare Transformation – Human-AI Synergy”, organised by UniKL in collaboration with KPTM, both wholly owned subsidiaries of MARA Corp Sdn Bhd.

The forum brought together key stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem to discuss the evolving landscape of healthcare transformation, with particular emphasis on digital innovation, artificial intelligence integration, and the future of healthcare delivery and education.

The event also featured the exchange of strategic documents between UniKL and several organisations, including DZR Pharma Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society, and Awan Byte Innovation and Technology Sdn Bhd.

These collaborations aim to broaden opportunities for cooperation in research, innovation development, industrial training, technology transfer, and the development of competitive human capital, in line with current industry demands and national priorities.
