With child stunting emerging as a critical health concern across ASEAN nations, Universiti Kuala Lumpur Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH) is taking proactive steps to address the issue through a research collaboration with Universitas Warmadewa Bali, Indonesia.

This partnership will focus on co-authoring research papers and developing impactful studies in the areas of child stunting and nutritional health, aiming to contribute meaningful solutions to a regional public health challenge.

As part of the initiative, two principal investigators and senior lecturers from UniKL MESTECH — Dr Azizah Mat Hussin and Dr Masyita Mamot — will undergo a seven-day research mobility attachment at Universitas Warmadewa Bali next month.

This collaboration follows an official visit by Universitas Warmadewa Bali to UniKL MESTECH on 17 June 2025, aimed at strengthening academic ties and advancing shared research goals.

The Indonesian delegation was led by Dr Made Indra Wijaya, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and included Dr Saktiviti, Dr Anak Agung Indraningrat, and Mrs Anak Agung Laksimi Darmayati.

Representing UniKL MESTECH during the visit were Ts Dr Mohamed Zul Fadhli Khairuddin (Dean and Head of Campus), Dr Ahmad Najib Hasan (Deputy Dean, Academic & Technology), Mr Zakaria Hamid (Deputy Dean, International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership), as well as Dr Azizah, Dr Masyita, and other academic staff members.

In a related effort to expand regional academic cooperation, UniKL MESTECH also welcomed a delegation from Universitas Mandala Waluya on 19 June 2025.

The benchmarking visit involved 12 lecturers and students from the Faculty of Science and Technology, with the aim of fostering academic and research collaboration, exploring UniKL MESTECH’s teaching systems and laboratory facilities, and providing international exposure in the fields of Medical Laboratory Technology and Environmental Health.

The visit was led by Dr Sri Anggarini Rasyid, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, who described the engagement as a meaningful step toward strengthening cross-border academic partnerships.

“This collaboration reflects a synergy of future efforts that will benefit students, academic staff, and the ummah as a whole,” said Dr Sri Anggarini Rasyid.
