Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) reaffirmed its role as a strategic technical university under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) through a distinguished lecture by former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor and MARA Council Member, YBhg. Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, at UniKL City Campus on 10 June 2026.
The distinguished lecture session with more than 130 UniKL students reflected MARA’s continued commitment to nurturing future-ready talent through education, skills development, leadership exposure and industry-relevant learning.
During the lecture, themed “Building Future-Ready Graduates: Leadership, Financial Wisdom and Career Success in a Changing Economy”, YBhg. Tan Sri Muhammad highlighted UniKL’s strategic position in supporting the nation’s growing focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
“UniKL stands in a very promising strategic position as we are gearing up for TVET, which will be the prime for the future,” he said.

He noted that the perception of TVET has shifted significantly over the years, from being viewed as an alternative pathway to becoming a critical driver of national development, talent mobility and economic competitiveness.
“Almost two decades ago, TVET was considered a second pathway. That has rapidly changed. The transition will create demand for expertise, infrastructure and technologies,” he added.
His remarks were particularly significant as Malaysia continues to place a stronger emphasis on producing skilled graduates who are able to meet the demands of a changing economy shaped by digitalisation, automation, financial literacy, sustainability, and emerging technologies.

As a university under MARA, UniKL plays a key role in translating this national agenda into action through its practice-oriented education model, industry-linked programmes and commitment to producing graduates who are technically competent, professionally agile and socially responsible.
The engagement also provided students with valuable insights beyond the classroom, particularly on leadership, financial wisdom, career planning and personal resilience. Through the session, students had the opportunity to learn directly from one of Malaysia’s respected figures in finance, governance and institutional leadership.

He was joined by members of MARA’s management, including MARA Senior Director of Investment, Dr. Azmi Amat Murjan; Director of Investment and Subsidiary Development, Mr. Abdul Wahab Mustaffa; Head of Fund Management Unit, Mr. Mohd. Hazry Osman; and Head of MARA Madani Waqaf Unit, Ms. Nur Azlin Ismail.
Also present were Group Chief Financial Officer of MARA Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Rahimi Ramli; Director of Group Corporate Planning and Communication of MARA Corporation, Dato’ Amir Azhar Ibrahim; Director of Group Corporate Legal and Secretariat, Ms. Nazli Hani Saat; Director of Group Risk, Compliance and Integrity, Mr. Iqzuan Idris; and Chairman, Dato’ Sri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali.
