Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) established five Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs) with major industry players during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA 2025).
Undertaken through UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), the partnership documents were exchanged on 20 May 2025 with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad; Galaxy Aerospace (M) Sdn Bhd; Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd; Pen Aviation Sdn Bhd; and Aerostar Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd.
The ceremony took place at the Gading Group Pavilion, Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), and was graced by the presence of YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, who witnessed the formal exchange of agreements.

YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid expressed that these collaborations are timely and critical in realising Malaysia’s aspirations to be a leading regional hub for aerospace development.
“These strategic partnerships reinforce UniKL’s vision to offer industry-relevant education, foster innovation, and produce highly skilled graduates equipped for the future of aviation and aerospace,” he said.
Also present at the event were Yang Berhomat Dato’ Sri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali, Chairman of Universiti Kuala Lumpur; YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir, Corporate Advisor of Gading Group; YBhg. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, President /Chief Executive Officer of UniKL; YBhg. Captain Adam Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Aerostar Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd; YBhg. Major (R) Afzal Hakimi Shaari RMAF, Executive Director of Aerostar Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd; YBhg. Mr. Azhar Abdul Halim, Executive Director of Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd; YBhg. Ms. Nadiah Tan Abdullah, Chief Human Capital Officer of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad; Mr. Jean-Bernard Boura, Managing Director of Pen Aviation Sdn Bhd; and YBhg. Mr. Ismail Sulaiman, Chief Operating Officer of Galaxy Aerospace (M) Sdn Bhd, as well as delegations from various government agencies and related local and international industry players.
This milestone reflects UniKL MIAT’s continuous efforts to bridge academia and industry in fostering real-world training opportunities, industry-based research, and the advancement of Malaysia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda.
The collaboration with Galaxy Aerospace will focus on delivering fundamental and type-rating aircraft training under UniKL MIAT’s Approved Training Organisation (ATO), offering students exposure to real-world industry practices.

Through its agreement with Aerostar Technologies, UniKL MIAT will establish a strategic alliance aimed at developing and delivering specialised training programmes that improve technical efficiency and competency in key aviation disciplines.

The MoA with Global Turbine Asia will support staff capability-building related to Design Organisation Approval (DOA), ensuring technical personnel are aligned with international certification standards and design engineering practices.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad will work with UniKL MIAT to co-develop customised training, workshops, and seminars for the upskilling of technical and management personnel in the aviation sector, promoting continuous learning and operational excellence.

Lastly, the partnership with Pen Aviation is geared towards integrating UniKL’s research capabilities with Pen Aviation’s UAV platform and field expertise, supporting research and innovation in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technologies — a rapidly growing segment in the aerospace industry.
