UniKL through the Centre for Water Engineering Technology (CWET) continues to strengthen its position as a leader in specialised technical training, particularly in cutting-edge submarine technology.
On January 9th, 2025, a pivotal technical meeting was held at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) Submarine Training Center (PLKS) in Teluk Sepanggar, Sabah.
The meeting, chaired by Lieutenant Commander Ir. Anas Shaidi Johari, Head of Simulator Training and Quality Control at PLKS, marked a significant milestone in CWET’s collaboration with TLDM.
The engagement stems from a series of prior visits and discussions where PLKS expressed admiration for CWET’s training facilities and extensive expertise in advanced engineering technologies.
These capabilities align perfectly with the TLDM submarine force’s goal to enhance its workforce’s skills and operational readiness.
With the support of UniKL Centre for Advancement & Continuing Education (ACE), the meeting concluded with a proposal for CWET to conduct three series of customised training programmes between February and July 2025.
Coordinated by Marine Science Technology Sdn Bhd. as the PLKS-appointed training contractor, these programmes are designed to develop technical proficiency for TLDM personnel, focusing on advanced automation, system diagnostics, and IR 4.0 integration into submarine technologies.
CWET’s involvement in supporting TLDM’s submarine force reflects its recent expansion into the national defence sector, where it plays a critical role in developing workforce competency in advanced automation and IR 4.0-related technologies.
This collaboration demonstrates CWET’s commitment to driving innovation and excellence in niche areas and ensures that Malaysia’s defence personnel remain at the forefront of technological advancements.
The upcoming training programme s mark a promising step toward a long-term partnership between CWET and PLKS.
By spearheading this initiative, CWET is not only contributing to national security but also solidifying its position as a trusted training and consultation provider in highly specialised domains.
