The joint degree between Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education continues to play a pivotal role in UniKL’s internationalisation strategy, fostering a globally inclusive learning environment.
UniKL’s Deputy President (International, Industrial & Institutional Partnership), Prof. Ir. Dr. Azmi Hassan, reaffirmed this commitment during a special session marking the fifth anniversary of the joint degree programme.
“This programme, now in its fifth year, has proven to be an outstanding platform for nurturing local talent,” said Prof. Ir. Dr. Azmi during his welcome speech at the event. He emphasised that graduates of the programme are already making significant contributions to the field of water engineering, both in Malaysia and internationally.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Jacques Werner of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, alongside Puan Hartini Mustaffa, Deputy Director of the Education Sponsorship Division at Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA).
Associate Professor Dr. Engku Ahmad Azrulhisham, Head of the Centre for Water Engineering Technology (CWET), delivered a presentation outlining the history of the UniKL-Netherlands partnership and shared details of ongoing and future initiatives aimed at enhancing this collaboration.
The event concluded with the handover of offer letters to seven students from the fifth cohort, who are set to depart for the Netherlands on 24 October 2024.
Appreciation letters were also presented to the fourth cohort of students, who recently completed their internships at Deltares.
