In a recent report released by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has once again emerged as a front-runner in terms of graduate employability among private higher learning institutes (IPTS) in Malaysia.

The data from the ‘Kajian Pengesanan Graduan 2022’ showcases UniKL’s consistent commitment to producing well-prepared graduates for the demands of the job market.

UniKL maintained a strong graduate employability rate of 97.1%. Notably, the university saw a remarkable achievement with two of its campuses reaching a 100% graduate employability rate.

The UniKL Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI) and the UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) stood out with a perfect score.

This remarkable achievement places UniKL in an esteemed league alongside other institutions such as UCSI University, Asia Pacific University (APU), and the Asia School of Business. UniKL’s performance even surpassed that of Taylor’s University and Management and Science University (MSU).

Meanwhile, UniKL Malaysia Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) secured a 99.2% graduate employability rate, closely followed by UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) at 98.1%, and UniKL Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) at 97.5%.

UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) and UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET) achieved an impressive 97.2%, while UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) and UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) secured a commendable 97.1% and 96.7%, respectively.

UniKL Malaysian Institute of Industrial Technology (UniKL MITEC), UniKL Business School (UBIS), and UniKL Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH) followed closely, contributing to the university’s overall success.

The MoHE report also highlighted an overall positive trend in the national graduate employability rate, which increased by 4.7% compared to the previous year, reaching 90.2%.

This uptick can be attributed to the increased economic activity resulting from the country’s transition to an endemic phase.

With a more robust economic climate, the demand for skilled labour has risen, leading to a surge in job opportunities across various sectors.

Furthermore, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions also experienced a notable rise in graduate employability, with a 4.5% increase, reaching a commendable 92.5%.

This signifies a growing recognition of the value of TVET education in equipping graduates with practical skills and knowledge that are highly sought after by industries.
