Universiti Kuala Lumpur Business School (UniKL BIS) student Siti Mariam Muhammad Asif Khan has been appointed as a volunteer for the Malaysia Youth SDG Summit 2026, strengthening her involvement in youth leadership, sustainability and community development.
The national summit will be held at Pusat Kecemerlangan Kenegaraan Perdana in Kuala Lumpur, bringing together young people committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of the organising team, Siti Mariam will contribute to the planning, preparation and on-site implementation of the three-day programme.
The role will provide her with practical experience in event management, teamwork, stakeholder coordination and community engagement, while complementing her studies in the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Management and Entrepreneurship programme at UniKL BIS.
Her appointment reflects UniKL’s emphasis on experiential learning and the development of future-ready graduates who are prepared to contribute to national and global sustainability agendas.
Siti Mariam has also been actively involved in initiatives aligned with the SDGs.
She previously served as Programme Director of the Digital Empowerment: Housewives & the Community (DHOC) programme, which involved 21 UniKL BIS students and was organised in collaboration with Pertubuhan Anak Watan Malaysia.
The initiative equipped housewives and members of the B40 community with practical digital entrepreneurship skills, including the use of TikTok to promote products, build an online presence and explore income-generating opportunities.

In April, Siti Mariam was one of seven UniKL students appointed as an Integrity Youth Ambassador Batch 2025 by Institut Integriti Malaysia, in recognition of her leadership, integrity and commitment to promoting positive values in society.
Her involvement in the summit, community empowerment programme and integrity advocacy supports several SDGs, including SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Through such student-led participation, UniKL continues to strengthen its contributions to sustainability education, youth leadership, social impact and community engagement.
