Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) has officially been recognised as a King Sejong Institute (KSI) by the King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF) and the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, marking a major milestone in promoting Korean language and culture in Malaysia.
The recognition positions UniKL MIIT as an official member of the global KSI network, which includes more than 200 institutions worldwide dedicated to advancing Korean language education and cultural exchange.
The announcement was commemorated during a formal visit by representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to UniKL MIIT on 4 July 2025.
During the visit, the Embassy extended formal congratulations and pledged continued support for the institute’s initiatives.
With this recognition, UniKL MIIT now holds the official mandate to offer Korean language and cultural programmes, not just to students but also to the wider public.

The institute aims to serve as a regional hub for Korean cultural learning, further strengthening Malaysia–Korea educational and diplomatic ties.
“Becoming a King Sejong Institute is more than a title — it’s a doorway to global exchange. We’re proud to be part of a mission that empowers students with language, culture, and international opportunity,” said Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nizam Husen, Dean and Head of Campus at UniKL MIIT.
The selection process was highly competitive, with limited approvals granted each year. UniKL MIIT had to meet strict criteria set by KSIF, including qualified instructors, adequate facilities, and a well-developed curriculum.
By becoming a KSI, UniKL MIIT not only enhances its own internationalisation strategy but also contributes meaningfully to cross-cultural understanding, global partnerships, and diverse learning experiences for students.
This milestone also supports UniKL’s vision of becoming a globally connected institution through strategic partnerships, cultural diplomacy, and inclusive education.
