Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) strengthened its position as a leading innovation-driven institution after securing two Gold Medals and one Silver Medal at the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2026, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on 18 and 19 May 2026.
Recognised as one of the region’s premier platforms for innovation and technology, ITEX 2026 brought together researchers, inventors, industry players, and academic institutions from various countries to showcase groundbreaking inventions, research outputs, and technological advancements.
Representing UniKL at the exhibition were three innovative projects from UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI), UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT), and UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP).

The university’s top achievement came through two Gold Medal-winning projects. The first, DASHBAS: Bus Cluster Management led by Ts. Elmy Nahida Othman from UniKL MIIT, introduced an innovative transportation management system aimed at improving bus coordination, operational monitoring, and overall efficiency.
The second Gold Medal was awarded to SuasaRelief: Natural Relief, Proven Effective, led by ChM Dr. Mazlin Mohideen from UniKL RCMP. The project features a natural-based solution developed through scientifically proven formulations and applications to provide effective relief treatment.
Meanwhile, UniKL BMI earned a Silver Medal through the project Plasmonic Resonance System for Bacteria/Virus Detection, led by Dr. Muhammad Rosli Abdullah. The innovation focuses on the development of rapid and efficient diagnostic technology for bacteria and virus detection, contributing towards advancements in healthcare and biomedical applications.
The achievements reflect UniKL’s continued commitment towards strengthening research excellence, innovation, commercialisation, and technology development in support of national and global aspirations in science and innovation.
