A routine clinical posting became a valuable real-world learning experience for two students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH) when they were involved in an actual emergency response operation at Bukit 300, Manjung, Perak.
Rosnurhidayah Ahmad Zaman and Nurul Sakinah Hanif, both Semester 6 students pursuing a Diploma in Medical and Health Science, demonstrated professionalism and composure when they joined an emergency mission involving an 81-year-old hiker who collapsed during a hiking activity at the popular recreational site.

Responding to a distress call received by the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (BOMBA) Manjung team, the students worked alongside healthcare personnel and emergency responders under the supervision of Senior Medical Assistant staff from Hospital Manjung.
The operation also involved close collaboration with the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), BOMBA, and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Far from being passive observers, the two students actively assisted in patient assessment, monitoring and stabilisation procedures, preparation of emergency medical equipment, patient handling and immobilisation, as well as delivering basic emergency care at the scene.
The experience not only provided invaluable hands-on exposure but also reflected the confidence and trust placed in UniKL MESTECH students by experienced healthcare practitioners.
For Rosnurhidayah and Nurul Sakinah, the mission served as a powerful reminder that healthcare professionals must be ready to respond at any moment, with knowledge, skill, empathy, and resilience.
