Inspired by her father’s footsteps in medicine, Mashira Emdad, 19, was named Best Student in the Foundation of Medical Sciences programme during Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s (UniKL) Appreciation and Certificate Presentation Ceremony (ACPC) Session 2/2025.
Mashira, whose father, Associate Professor Dr. A T M Emdadul Haque is both a doctor and lecturer at UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (RCMP), said his guidance has been her greatest source of motivation.
She is now eager to pursue her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at UniKL RCMP.
“I have always wanted to become a doctor since I was young. My very own father is a doctor and a lecturer at UniKL RCMP, so you can see how he has been a clear inspiration and role model for me to always give my best,” she said.

Mashira was among 210 students recognised for completing their foundation studies across various programmes: Foundation in Science and Technology, Foundation in Business, Foundation in Computer Technology, Foundation in Science, Foundation in Creative Art and Design, Foundation in Science and Arts, and Foundation in Medical Sciences.
Other top achievers honoured at the ceremony included Aden Chai Zhe Yi (Foundation in Science and Technology), Dzorfan Ali Sufi Miftah (Foundation in Business), Fahim Syamil Mohd Alfahmi (Foundation in Computer Technology), Nehal Shree A/P S. Sivaraja (Foundation in Science), Muhammad Luqman Hasan (Foundation in Creative Art and Design), and Noor Bathrisya Ayuni Abdul Halim (Foundation in Science and Arts).
