Ts. Kamarul Nasser Mokri from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET) recently joined CommTECH Camp Insight 2026 at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Indonesia.
The program, held from 22 January to 2 February, brought together 40 participants from seven countries to explore how technology can be used to help communities and improve daily life.
In the first week, the programme allowed participants to discuss topics such as disaster management, geospatial technology, and planning solutions for community challenges.
A significant highlight of the itinerary was the specialised focus on maritime and infrastructure technology during the second week.

“Visits to the National Hydrodynamics Lab and the National Water Treatment Plant (PDAM IPAM) provided us with firsthand insights into Indonesia’s latest maritime engineering and utility infrastructure.
“These visits sparked high-level discussions regarding Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous rescue boats, establishing a strong foundation for future research partnerships between UniKL MIMET and ITS in the field of maritime safety and autonomous systems,” said Ts. Kamarul Nasser.

The programme also allowed him to connect with ITS faculty and international experts, opening doors for student exchanges, staff attachments, and joint research projects.
By bridging the gap between laboratories and community needs, this engagement reinforces UniKL’s trajectory as a premier technical university dedicated to solving real-world problems through a global collaborative network.
Note: In line with Malaysia’s aspiration to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) continues to strengthen and expand its efforts through various initiatives.
