Six fashion design students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI) showcased their creativity and cultural appreciation at International Cultural Fashion Week 2026, held at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, as part of the Precious of Malaysia Citraloka 2026 celebration.
The fashion showcase was organised in conjunction with Malaysia Cultural Festival 2026, held from 11 to 16 September 2026, culminating in the Malaysia Day celebration.
The festival brought together fashion, arts, music and cultural activities to celebrate Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage.

Representing UniKL MIDI’s Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing (BFDM) programme, the six students explored the intersection of traditional cultural identity and contemporary fashion design, highlighting how Malaysia’s diverse heritage can inspire modern creative expression.
Their participation provided an opportunity to experience a multicultural fashion platform while gaining practical exposure to professional runway presentations, creative networking and cultural exchange.
Beyond the runway, the event enabled the students to engage with designers and participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, broadening their perspectives on international fashion trends, cultural storytelling and the creative industries.
The experience also reinforced the importance of integrating cultural awareness with technical expertise, an essential combination for aspiring designers seeking to establish themselves in an increasingly interconnected global fashion industry.

Through industry-based learning opportunities such as International Cultural Fashion Week 2026, UniKL MIDI continues to strengthen its commitment to producing creative, innovative and industry-ready graduates equipped with practical experience and international perspectives.
The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through experiential and industry-relevant learning, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by promoting cultural heritage, diversity and appreciation through creative expression.
