Eight students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI) took their fashion creativity to the international stage at Pagelaran Busana 2026, held on 1 August 2026 at Plaza Medan Fair, Medan, Indonesia.
Representing the Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing (BFDM) programme, the students participated in the annual fashion showcase organised by the S-1 Vocational Fashion Design Education Study Programme of STKIP Pangeran Antasari, strengthening academic collaboration and creative exchange between Malaysia and Indonesia.

The event provided a platform for students to showcase their fashion design skills, artistic expression and innovative collections while celebrating the diverse cultural influences of the Nusantara region.
As part of the international collaboration, UniKL MIDI students gained valuable exposure to professional runway presentations, cross-cultural design perspectives and fashion education practices in Indonesia.
The experience also encouraged creative dialogue among students, academics and industry representatives, allowing participants to explore how traditional cultural identities can inspire contemporary fashion design.

The UniKL MIDI delegation was accompanied by Siti Nurul Hazirah Halim, who joined the programme alongside invited guests and speakers Yentie Lim and Okky Dhandra.
The event also brought together key representatives from STKIP Pangeran Antasari, including Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, Chairman of the Pangeran Antasari Education Foundation; Kartina Rahmadhani Rambe, Chairman of STKIP Pangeran Antasari; and Siti Maisyarah Hasibuan, Head of the S-1 Vocational Fashion Design Education Study Programme.

Beyond the fashion showcase, the collaboration strengthened academic and professional networking opportunities between both institutions, fostering knowledge exchange in fashion education, creative innovation and cultural appreciation.
It also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting practical and internationally oriented learning, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through cross-border academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
