It was supposed to be a double celebration for Haris Fadzilah Senon, 58, and his wife, Kamaazurah Adzhar, 52, as they were set to witness two of their children receiving their scrolls together at the third session of Universiti Kuala Lumpur’s (UniKL) 22nd Convocation Ceremony.
However, fate had other plans. Only one of them, Batrisyia Haris Fadzilah, 25, could attend to receive her Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Industrial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning System) with Honours from UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI).
Her brother, Muhammad Hazim Haris Fadzilah, who was supposed to graduate alongside her, passed away in an accident during his final semester.
“The accident happened when he was on his way home to home. He wanted to prepare for his internship, so he went home to learn from me how to handle an interview. That was the reason he made the trip.

“My dream was for both of them to study together and graduate together. Alhamdulillah, they spent four years side by side.
“But of course, Allah’s will is above all. During the final week of his final semester, the accident took him away from us,” Haris Fadzilah said softly.
At the ceremony, both the mother and Batrisyia could not hold back their tears when the scroll and a bouquet of flowers were handed to the parents on behalf of their late son.
His mother, Kamaazurah, described her late son as a righteous and devoted child who always fulfilled his responsibilities to her and, above all, to Allah.
“On the day of the accident, he had just performed his prayers. He was a good son who never talked back. Whatever I asked, he would always do without hesitation or complaint.
“I would like to thank UniKL, the management, the lecturers, and all his friends. Even today, I can see how deeply UniKL cares. I did not expect such kindness and attention,” she said.
